WeChat uses the system microphone

WeChat desktop may not offer a microphone selector inside the call. In that case it takes sound from the default system input, so Loquora sends the translated speech there.

On macOS

When a translation session starts, Loquora can switch the system input to its virtual microphone. When you stop the session, it returns the microphone you were using before.

On Windows

Loquora opens the system Sound settings, where you set its virtual microphone as the default input. WeChat then receives the translated speech through that device.

Questions about WeChat

Before your first call

Does the other person need Loquora?

No. Only you run Loquora. The translated speech arrives in the ordinary WeChat call, so the other person keeps using WeChat as usual.

Why do I need to change the system microphone?

WeChat desktop can use the default system input instead of offering its own microphone selector. Setting Loquora as that input lets WeChat receive the translated speech.

Can I use the browser extension for WeChat?

Use the Loquora desktop app for WeChat. The browser extension is intended for supported calls that run directly in a Chromium browser tab.

Can Loquora translate the other person's reply?

Yes. You can read the reply as translated subtitles or let Loquora play the translation aloud in your language.

Which languages are available?

You can choose from 58 languages for real-time translation. Automatic language detection is also available for 10 common languages.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. The free plan includes translation time each month. Paid plans add more minutes and can include personal voice cloning.
