The short answer
How do you turn on voice translation in Zoom?
Zoom's built-in translated captions require an eligible Workplace plan or the Translated Captions add-on. Voice Translator is intended for some eligible organizations and also depends on account settings.
With Loquora, you can add translation yourself: install the app, choose both languages, and select the Loquora virtual microphone in Zoom Audio settings. It works with a personal account and does not require the host to enable a translation feature.
Direct comparison
Choose between captions, Zoom's voice feature, and an independent translator.
The right option depends on whether you need readable captions, translated audio, organization-level Zoom access, or one tool for several calling apps.
| Feature | Zoom built-in | Loquora |

| Who controls access | Account, admin and host settings affect availability | The individual user installs and configures it |
| Languages | Depends on the selected Zoom translation feature | 32 supported call languages |
| Other participant setup | Uses the meeting's Zoom features | No Loquora installation required |

Questions and answers
Zoom translation FAQ
How do I enable voice translation with a personal Zoom account?
Install Loquora, choose both languages, and select the Loquora virtual microphone in Zoom Audio settings. Once translation starts, other participants hear the translated phrases even if your Zoom account does not include a built-in voice translation feature.
Are Zoom translated captions available on every account?
No. Zoom says translated captions require an eligible Workplace account or the Translated Captions add-on, and account or host settings affect availability.
Is Zoom Voice Translator generally available?
No. Zoom currently documents Voice Translator for eligible customers with limited access and usage allowances.
Does everyone need to install Loquora?
No. You select the Loquora virtual microphone; other participants hear its translated output inside their normal Zoom meeting.
How much delay does Loquora add?
Translation typically begins about one second after a short or medium phrase ends. Longer phrases and network conditions may increase the delay.
Can I try it with a personal Zoom account?
Yes. Loquora operates separately from Zoom's translation entitlements, and its free personal plan includes about 30 minutes each month.
